Blood Lance

Review
The 5th in the series, and you'll want to read this series in order. Crispin Guest aids an old friend who has acted dishonorably in battle. Many of the scenes take place on London Bridge and the author does a good job in describing life on the bridge during the late fourteenth century. An enjoyable read...I checked to library for the next in the series and am disappointed to see that none of the branches has it!  Click here to see if this book is in our catalog!

On the Come Up: A Novel, Based on a True Story
Author
Hannah Weyer

Interesting story of Ann Marie & her mother Blessed's struggles in Far Rockaway, NY. I was able to find many similarities with my own upbringing even though I was not raised in the inner city. Listened to the audiobook which I feel helped bring the story more to life.   Click here to see if this book is in our catalog!

My Beloved World
Author
Sonia Sotomayor
Review
This was a very honest memoir by one of the US Supreme Court's justices. Her story serves an important reminder that many Americans grow up in challenging circumstances and that we all do not operate from the same knowledge or set of experiences.  Click here to see if this book is in our catalog!

The Book Thief
Author
Marcus Zusak
Review
Audiobook narration well done of the popular fiction about Lisle, a German girl, during the Nazi Holocaust, written this time from the perspective of non-Jews and some who are not Nazis. A complicated story, frankly overlong, but then, so is war.  Click here to see if this book is in our catalog!
