Knowing how to administer basic first aid is very important in a survival situation and can mean the difference between life and death. In a survival situation, getting professional medical help may be impossible so knowing the right first aid skills will greatly increase the chances of survival. Knowing what you need to do in an emergency situation and not being afraid to act quickly will help you administer efficient first aid properly. Scouts and Leaders from the Chester County Council, Boy Scouts of America will teach you some basic first aid and outdoor survival skills that can be very useful during a zombie take-over!

This program will meet outside the library. If we have rain, we'll be inside in the Struble Room.

If zombies take over the world, will you know how to survive? This summer, the Chester County Library, Department of Emergency Services, Boy Scouts of Chester County, and the Delaware Valley Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club present a series of programs that will better prepare you to face zombies (and any other disasters!).

Participants will experience 30 minutes of yoga postures seated in a chair with a focus to alleviate back pain, relax tight shoulders, strengthen legs, increase flexibility, improve balance, relieve stress and create self- awareness. The second half of the program will be 30 minutes of guided deep relaxation and meditation incorporating an evidence-based, transformative technique known as Integrative Restoration (iRest) Yoga Nidra. iRest is designed to achieve a deep relaxation that calms the nervous system through guided meditation.

PRESENTER: Dee Person, a Registered Therapeutic Yoga Teacher and Meditation Instructor, has taught yoga and meditation for almost 10 years. As a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and Veteran of Iraqi Freedom, Dee discovered yoga and meditation when she returned from two tours in the Middle East and struggled with re-acclimating to civilian life. Now an officer in the Reserves, Dee continues to serve her fellow Veterans by teaching yoga and meditation in the VA hospital system.

Death Come Quickly
Author
Susan Wittig Albert
Review
The latest in this author's China Bayles series finds the owner of the Thyme and Seasons Hebrew shop trying to determine the connection between the murder of her friend, a professor at the local college and a 15 year old murder case where the trial of the suspect ended in an acquittal. Two students from the college had been filming a documentary about the case as their Senior project, and when one of them is attacked and her equipment stolen, this provides China with the connection. As she goes back over witness statements and other documents from the trial, the motive emerges and the perps are brought to justice.  Click here to see if this book is in our catalog!

The Boy Next Door
Author
Meggin Cabot
Review
Barbara Rosenblat is superb as narrator in this contemporary mystery/romance novel told entirely in emails. Melissa Fuller, Page 10 gossip columnist for a NY paper, lives next door to a wealthy elderly neighbor who has been accosted and lies in a coma. The woman has only one next-of-kin, Max Freedlander. Max calls in a favor from an old friend John to stay in his aunt's apartment to care for his aunt's pets so Max can continue a tryst with supermodel Viveca. But who is responsible for the heinous crime?

Mel, her best friend Nadine at the newspaper office, their boss George, Max, John, Melissa's mother--the list of quirky, yet lovable characters goes on and on--with Rosenblatt delivering each one in a unique voice. The novel, really about love and relationships, is a hoot for both guys and gals. It's worth listening to time and time again.  Click here to see if this book is in our catalog!
